The AP8520 front record, item by item

Key takeaways

  • What it is: an AP8520 front six-piston complete kit record for the BMW F10 (2010–2017), quoted as a front axle set.
  • Rotor planning: 19 inch 380 mm; 20 inch 380/390 mm; 21 inch 400/410 mm. No 18 inch rotor path is supplied.
  • What decides it: the VIN, the variant, the original front brakes and the wheel envelope — not the model name.
  • Before release: installation type stays Confirm before order; the first tier opens at USD 578 a set.

Seller record crawled on 2026-09-21. The live page carried a meta typo (`aBMW`) and the registry URL was missing its final `r`; both are cleaned in this delivery. The platform timeline was checked against Wikipedia’s BMW 5 Series (F10) entry.

Who sends the F10 file, and why

This is the BMW F10 brake caliper record with the AP8520 front kit, written for owners, workshops and importers who want the file before the deposit.

Who sends what

An F10 owner with a 19 or 20 inch wheel wants the rotor and clearance answer before paying. A workshop preparing a customer car needs the bracket and rotor schedule before the lift is booked. An importer buying 10–49 sets wants one repeatable record per car in the batch. Each route starts with the VIN, the wheel data and photos of the current front brakes.

The market also installs take-off G-series or M5 hardware, and those builds are filmed on the same cars. That route is not this page: the record covers a new AP8520 front kit, so the comparison is made on the vehicle file rather than on a used-parts price.

What this record will not claim

It doesn’t claim OE replacement, and it doesn’t promise that every 19 inch wheel clears the 380 mm rotor. It also avoids approval promises, performance numbers and any no-spacer guarantee.

The photos are installed references from workshop builds; they are not a finished installation on your car. Before production starts, the quote and the packing list are matched to the page SKU.

The vehicle record: year, variant, wheel and brake data

The F10 isn’t one specification: engines, markets and original brake packages vary inside the 2010–2017 run. The table is what the review collects before the bracket and rotor plan is released.

Rotor interfaceDiameters supplied for 19–21 inch onlyApprove thickness, hat height, offset, centre bore and mounting details

ET – the distance from the mounting face to the wheel centre line. The J value – the bead-profile width code marked on the wheel. Both values feed the rotor decision.

One variant, one record

An F10 535i or 550i bracket decision cannot be transferred to this general AP8520 record without checking the receiving car. The VIN decides which file applies.

Rotor planning for 19, 20 and 21 inch F10 wheels

Planning reference only. The table below is a starting point per wheel; diameter, thickness and bell height are fixed against the vehicle record before anything is cut.

Wheel referenceRotor planning referenceChecks before approval
18 inchNo supplied rotor referenceDo not assume a size; the vehicle and wheel envelope need a separate review
19 inch380 mmOriginal brake interface, spoke clearance, inner barrel and caliper template
20 inch380 mm or 390 mmET and J for aftermarket wheels, spoke profile, inner barrel and rotor position
21 inch400 mm or 410 mmComplete wheel envelope, rotor interface, hose route and installation review

Diameter is not clearance

A 19 inch wheel doesn’t automatically clear the 380 mm rotor. Spoke shape, inner barrel, width and offset decide, and larger rotors usually need a template or a physical check. Here we let the wheel file decide, not the diameter in the table.

Market reference, not this kit’s specification: published AP8520 retrofit kits list 380 mm, 390 mm and 400 mm rotors, and a 5 Series case pairs the caliper with a two-piece rotor. An Alcon Mono6 front kit for the F10 and F18 is listed at 380 x 32 mm, and a StopTech ST-60 front kit for the same 5 Series is listed at 380 x 32 mm too, so a 32 mm rotor thickness is normal for this car in the aftermarket. Those listings don’t prove clearance or the rotor path for this kit.

What the AP8520 front kit contains

The seller record lists five component groups with quantities: 2 calipers, 2 brackets, 2 rotors, 4 brake pads and 2 hoses. Each group is paired with the interface that is reviewed before the order is released.

ComponentQuantityInterface review
Front six-piston caliper2 calipersCaliper position, rotor centreline, pad path and wheel clearance
Adapter bracket2 bracketsF10 mounting points, approved fasteners and vehicle-specific position
Brake rotor2 rotorsDiameter plus thickness, hat height, offset, centre bore and mounting data
Brake pad4 brake padsPad shape and specification matched to the supplied calipers and rotors
Brake hose2 brake hosesFitting type, routing, full steering travel and suspension movement

Front axle only

Rear calipers, rotors and parking-brake parts are not in this kit. If a rear configuration is discussed, the rear brake type is confirmed separately: EPB with an electric motor, a mechanical handbrake cable, or drum-in-hat.

Materials, brand boundary and what this record cannot prove

The site material record lists 7050 aluminium alloy for the caliper body, hat and bracket, ceramic friction material for the pads and high-carbon cast iron for the rotor. This SKU has no batch report and no approval document on file, so no approval claim is made.

No stopping-distance, fade or bias numbers are published because this SKU has no test file. The photographs show red calipers with a third-party badge; they are captioned as installed references, not as proof of the six-piston record. The photo-to-record match is on the business confirmation list and can’t be settled from here.

AP8520 is the caliper-family name the aftermarket uses for this six-piston pattern. Nothing here claims AP Racing authorization, sponsorship or an official warranty; the warranty that applies comes from SteedLuxParts. Two sources were checked: Wikipedia’s BMW 5 Series (F10) page for the model timeline, and its disc-brake page for the component terms. The two sources cover the platform and the components; they don’t prove that anything fits a particular car. SteedLuxParts fitment desk reviewed this record; the page was updated on 2026-09-22.

How the front kit is quoted and released

Owner and workshop route

The order starts with the vehicle record. Once the rotor path and bracket are approved, the quotation confirms the set; production begins after the 30% deposit and runs 3–7 business days, with delivery about 20–35 business days and the balance before shipment.

The record lists a 45 x 45 x 45 cm carton at 45 kg, measured again before dispatch. Freight goes into the quotation; this record publishes no freight table.

Import and wholesale route

Wholesale starts at 1 set. Crawl-date tiers are USD 578 a set at 1–9, USD 550 at 10–49 and USD 499 at 50–199. Each car in a batch gets its own VIN record, so we cut brackets and bells per vehicle.

The cover runs 5 years against manufacturing and quality defects; wear, wrong fitting and unauthorised changes fall outside it. The live page deferred MOQ, lead time and warranty to the quotation; we use the site defaults here, and a customer-specific quotation still overrides them.

Questions that arrive before the AP8520 order

Is this AP8520 kit suitable for every BMW F10?

No. The F10 ran from 2010 to 2017 with different engines, markets and original brake packages. The exact year, variant, market, original front hardware, bracket interface and wheel clearance are approved per VIN before the order is released.

Does an 18 inch wheel have a supplied rotor reference?

No. The seller record supplies rotor planning for 19, 20 and 21 inch wheels only. An 18 inch application needs a separate vehicle and wheel review because no rotor path is published for it.

Does a 19 inch wheel guarantee clearance for the 380 mm rotor?

No. Spoke profile, inner barrel, wheel width, offset, rotor interface and the approved caliper template still have to be measured. A 19 inch wheel is a starting filter, not the clearance answer.

Should a 20 inch wheel use a 380 or 390 mm rotor?

Both are planning references. The vehicle record, the bracket, the rotor interface and the wheel envelope settle the final path; the quotation then fixes diameter and thickness.

What wheel data is needed for an aftermarket fitment?

Send the wheel diameter, the ET and J numbers, and the spoke and barrel details where the fitment desk asks for them. A printed template or a physical measurement may also be required before the bracket and rotor schedule is released.

Does the package include rear brake parts?

No. The scope is the front AP8520 six-piston kit. For any rear configuration, the rear brake type is confirmed separately: EPB with an electric motor, a mechanical handbrake cable, or drum-in-hat.

Installed reference photos, and the file to send next

Three reference images sit below, each one checked against the file before it was captioned. Two are wheel-side photographs taken on a BMW wheel, and the third is a bare two-piece rotor on a white background. None of them is a fitment result for a particular F10, and none proves the rotor size on your car.

Next step

The next step is the vehicle file: exact year and variant, market, VIN privately, original front brake photos, wheel size and status, and the aftermarket geometry where it applies. The reply comes back with the rotor path, the bracket plan and the quotation for the front set.
