What the 550i front caliper record covers

Key takeaways

  • What it is: a Brembo six-piston front caliper upgrade record for the 2011 BMW 550i (F10/F11), quoted as a front axle set for 18–22 inch wheels.
  • Rotor planning: 330/355 mm appears for some 18 inch applications, 374 mm and 400 mm come from published F10 builds — planning references only.
  • What decides it: the VIN, the xDrive variant, the wheel file and the original front brake package.
  • Before release: installation type stays Confirm before order; the first tier opens at USD 518 a set.

Seller record crawled on 2026-09-21. An earlier page carried a direct-replacement claim and no parts count; this record replaces it with a conditional review and hands the packing list to the quotation. Platform facts were checked against the Wikipedia BMW 5 Series (F10) entry.

Owner, workshop and importer routes

This is the 2011 BMW 550i caliper record for owners, workshops and importers who want the F10 front brake file before the deposit.

The buyers behind the file

A 550i owner with an 18 or 19 inch wheel build wants to know whether the six-piston caliper clears the barrel and spokes. A workshop preparing a customer car needs the bracket and rotor plan before the lift is booked. An importer buying 10–49 sets wants one repeatable file per car in the batch. Every route starts with the VIN, the wheel data and photos of the current front brakes.

F10 owners also install take-off M5 or G-series hardware, and those builds are filmed with 374 mm or 400 mm discs. That route is not this page: the record covers a new six-piston front kit, so the comparison is made on the vehicle file rather than on a used-parts price.

What this record will not claim

It doesn’t claim OE replacement, and it doesn’t promise that every 18 inch wheel clears every rotor. It also makes no approval claim, no performance claim and no no-spacer promise.

The photographs show parts, a wheel-side reference and the packing set; they are not a finished installation on your car. The quotation and the packing list are tied to the page SKU before production.

The VIN file: F10 year, xDrive, wheel and brake data

The F10 550i isn’t one specification: model year, market and xDrive can change the wheel and brake package. The table is what the review collects before anything is cut.

Wheel file18–22 inch scope; wheel data not suppliedSend size, offset and the ET and J values for aftermarket wheels
Rotor interfacePlanning sizes onlyApprove thickness, bell height, centre bore and mounting details

Two wheel terms matter here. ET – the mounting-face offset from the wheel centre line. The J value – the bead-profile width code on the wheel. We check both before the rotor path is fixed.

Model year matters

The F10 generation ran from 2010 to 2017, and the 550i carried the N63B44 4.4 twin-turbo V8. An early car and a later car can still differ in market equipment and wheel package, so the review works from the VIN, not from the badge.

Rotor planning from 18 to 22 inch F10 wheels

Planning reference only. The sizes below start the conversation for a wheel; the final rotor diameter, thickness and bell height are fixed against the vehicle record before production.

Wheel referencePlanning referenceChecks before approval
18 inch330/355 mm (seller FAQ); 374 mm appears with G-series calipers in published buildsSpoke profile, inner barrel, wheel width and the caliper template
19 inch374 mm market exampleActual wheel geometry, rotor interface and hub clearance
20 inch and larger400 mm market example with M5-style calipersComplete wheel envelope, hose route and installation review

Diameter is not clearance

An 18 inch wheel doesn’t automatically clear a 330 mm or 355 mm rotor. Spoke shape, inner barrel, width and offset decide, and larger rotors usually need a larger wheel plus a printed or physical template. On this page we let the wheel file close the question.

Market reference, not this kit’s specification: published F10 front kits list a 380 mm StopTech ST60 rotor, a 405 mm Brembo GT rotor at 34 mm thick, and a KT4 F10 550i M Sport kit with 304 mm, 330 mm, 345 mm, 356 mm, 365 mm, 380 mm and 405 mm options. None of those listings proves fitment or the rotor path for this set.

What the front set includes, and what the quote settles

An earlier record describes the front set but publishes no parts count. Instead of inventing one, the table separates what the record states from what the quotation fixes.

ComponentOn the record nowFixed in the quotation
CalipersBrembo six-piston front calipers (market family name)Exact model, finish and quantity
RotorsRotor matching for 18–22 inch wheelsDiameter, thickness and face finish
PadsCeramic friction material on the site recordPad shape and quantity
Brackets and bellsAdapter bracket and rotor bell machined for the vehicleGeometry, offset and hardware list
HosesInterface checked before releaseQuantity and inlet type

The quotation carries the list

Before the order is released, the quotation and the packing record are matched to the page SKU. That keeps the parts count out of the guesswork and out of the marketing copy.

Materials, brand boundary and the limits of this record

The site material record lists 7050 aluminium alloy for the caliper body, hat and bracket, ceramic friction material for the pads and high-carbon cast iron for the rotor. No batch report or approval document is held for this SKU, so the page makes no approval claim.

Stopping-distance, fade and bias figures stay unpublished because no test file exists for this kit. The photographs show yellow calipers with a third-party badge; the images are captioned as parts and references, and they are not proof of the six-piston record. That photo-to-record match sits on the business confirmation list; we cannot settle it from the page.

Brembo is the caliper-family name the aftermarket uses for this six-piston pattern. Nothing here claims Brembo authorization, sponsorship or an official Brembo warranty; the warranty that applies comes from SteedLuxParts. Sources checked for this record: the Wikipedia BMW 5 Series (F10) entry for the platform timeline, and the Wikipedia disc-brake entry for the caliper and rotor terminology. Both sources describe the platform and the parts; neither proves fitment on a specific car. This record was reviewed by the SteedLuxParts fitment desk; page updated on 2026-09-21.

How owners, workshops and importers order

Owner and workshop route

The file starts with the VIN and the wheel photos. Once the rotor and bracket answer is fixed, the quotation confirms the set; production begins after the 30% deposit and takes 3–7 business days, with delivery about 20–35 business days and the balance before shipment.

The record lists a 45 x 45 x 45 cm carton at 20 kg, measured again before dispatch. Freight is quoted with the order because the page does not publish a freight table.

Import and wholesale route

The set opens at 1 set minimum. Crawl-date tiers run from USD 518 a set at 1–9, to USD 458 at 10–49 and USD 428 at 50–199. Every car in a batch gets its own VIN file, so we cut brackets and bells to the individual records.

Manufacturing and quality defects are covered for 5 years; wear, incorrect fitting and unauthorised modification are not. The earlier record listed a 10–25 day lead time and a direct-replacement claim; both are cleared, and we apply the site defaults unless the quotation says otherwise.

Six questions that arrive with a 550i VIN

Does this fit every 2011 BMW 550i?

No. This 550i generation ran through the 2010–2016 model years, and 550i and 550i xDrive cars can differ by market, wheel package and original brake option. The VIN, wheel size, original brake configuration and photos are reviewed before the order is released.

Can it work with 18 inch wheels?

Some 18 inch applications may pair with 330 mm or 355 mm rotors, but spoke and barrel clearance still has to be measured. Larger rotors usually need a larger wheel and a printed or physical clearance template, so the wheel file decides the answer.

Is this an OE replacement caliper?

No. This is a six-piston upgrade setup, not an OE remanufactured caliper listing. If the project needs a direct original-number replacement, confirm the original part number first; this record will not match it.

Which rotor size should I choose?

The seller FAQ lists 330 mm and 355 mm for some 18 inch applications, while published F10 builds run 374 mm discs with G-series calipers and 400 mm discs with M5 calipers. All four are planning references; the quotation fixes the diameter, thickness and bell geometry for the set.

What is needed for the quotation?

Send the VIN, model year, wheel size, wheel offset, the current rotor diameter, the target rotor size, the brake position, and photos of the existing caliper, bracket and hose connection. That file is what the bracket and rotor plan is built from.

Is this a genuine Brembo product with Brembo’s warranty?

Brembo is the caliper-family name the aftermarket uses for this six-piston pattern. Nothing on this page claims Brembo authorization, sponsorship or an official Brembo warranty, and the warranty that applies comes from SteedLuxParts.

Reference photos, and the file to send next

The image set shows the front parts, a wheel-side reference and the packing layout. The installation and export images are shared template references, not photos of an F10 550i build. A previous ALT called the white-car photo a rotor chart; that label was wrong and the new caption describes what the photo actually shows.

Next step

The next step is the vehicle file: VIN, model year, market, xDrive or rear-wheel drive, wheel size and offset, the current and target rotor diameters, and photos of the existing caliper, bracket and hose. The reply comes back with the rotor decision, the bracket plan and the quotation for the front set.
