The IS250 record in four lines
Key takeaways
- Vehicle: the Lexus IS250 big brake kit is written for the XE20 generation, and the bracket is cut for the car in front of the buyer, not for the model name alone.
- What ships: one axle pair carries 2 calipers, 2 rotors, 4 brake pads and 2 hoses, plus the bells and adapter brackets for the vehicle.
- Rotor path: paths start at 330/355 mm and run to 400/405 mm, stepped by wheel size.
- Before release: installation type stays Confirm before order until we’ve checked the VIN, the original brake package and the wheel record.
Checked on 2026-09-18. The list shows what is confirmed, what the buyer sends, and what is still open.
A GT6 kit for the XE20, read before the wheel choice
This page answers one question for two kinds of buyer: what has to be checked before a GT6 six-piston kit is built for a specific IS250.
The owner and the workshop
One group is the IS250 owner who is dealing with a real brake problem: a seized or dragging rear caliper, uneven pad wear, a soft pedal, or a quote for a brake job that turned into a bigger decision. The other group is the workshop or importer buying on that owner’s behalf, who needs the bracket, the rotor plan and the hose set to arrive together.
The IS250 left the factory with two-piston front calipers, so a six-piston fixed caliper changes what sits around the wheel. Vehicle records come before any parts list.
What this record does not cover
Rear parking-brake hardware, ABS or stability-control repairs, brake fluid specification and diagnostics sit outside this page. Those get their own check with the workshop. Performance numbers stay out of this file too; a parts list cannot promise a stopping distance or a lap time.
This is not a Lexus factory part, and it is not sold as an OE replacement. The kit is an aftermarket GT6 caliper set for IS250 upgrade projects, released only after the vehicle data is checked.
VIN, axle, wheel, brake and parking-brake fields
This table is the whole fitment file we work from. Anything in the middle column that still reads as a check is why the installation type hasn’t moved past Confirm before order.
| Control field | On the record now | Send with the RFQ |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle identity | Lexus IS250, XE20 generation, model years 2005–2013 | Model year, trim and the VIN of the receiving car |
| Axle and drivetrain | One axle pair per set; the front pair is the usual six-piston request | Front or rear axle, and whether the car is rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive |
| Original brake package | Pending the vehicle record | Photos of the current caliper, bracket area and rotor face |
| Wheels | Wheel size drives the rotor path; the matrix below sets the limits | Wheel diameter and width, offset (ET – the distance from the mounting face to the wheel centre line), spoke profile and inner-barrel photos |
| Rotor interface | Rotor bell, PCD and bell height are cut for the vehicle | Current rotor diameter and condition, plus the hub register if the wheels are aftermarket |
| Rear parking brake | Confirmed as part of a rear axle review, not assumed from the model name | Parking-brake type on the car, and whether the rear kit touches it |
Rotor paths from 330 to 405 mm, wheel by wheel
Planning reference only. The table sets a starting diameter for a wheel size; the final rotor diameter, bell height and offset are fixed against the vehicle record before we put the kit into production.
| Wheel size | Rotor path | Typical use | Check before release |
|---|---|---|---|
| 18 inch | 330/355 mm | Smallest diameter on this record | Spoke and inner-barrel clearance on the actual wheel |
| 19 inch | 355/380 mm | Common upgrade step | Clearance plus the rotor bell and PCD record |
| 20 inch | 380/400 mm | Road and show builds | Caliper-to-spoke gap on concave faces |
| 21 inch | 400/405 mm | Largest path on this record | Wheel build confirmed first; longer lead time |
Two comparisons are worth reading before the order. First, the IS350 used four-piston calipers and larger discs borrowed from the GS 430, and the IS F ran a 6-piston front setup with 14.2 inch front and 13.6 inch rear rotors on 19 inch forged wheels. Those are factory combinations with their own wheel and knuckle requirements, and this kit is a separate route with its own bracket. Second, all-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive IS250 cars are not treated as the same file; the drivetrain is confirmed before the bracket is cut.
One axle pair: what is in the box
| Component | Quantity on the record | Interface or check |
|---|---|---|
| Calipers | 2 calipers | GT6 six-piston fixed caliper; radial mounting against the knuckle |
| Rotors | 2 rotors | Diameter from the wheel path; two-piece disc with a vehicle-specific bell |
| Brake pads | 4 brake pads | Ceramic friction material; pad shape matched to the caliper |
| Brake hoses | 2 hoses | Braided line supplied with the set; routing checked at full lock |
| Rotor bells | 2 bells | Machined for the vehicle hub and the rotor plan |
| Adapter brackets | 2 brackets | Cut for the vehicle knuckle; not a one-size bracket |
| Brake fluid | 1 set on selected configurations | Confirmed with the quotation; specification depends on the build |
Installation type stays Confirm before order. Each set covers one axle pair; front and rear are quoted separately so the parking-brake question is reviewed on its own. Brake fluid is included on selected configurations only, and the quotation states whether the set is in the box.
What the metal is, and what this file will not claim
- Caliper body, rotor bell and adapter bracket: 7050 aluminium alloy.
- Rotors: high-carbon cast iron.
- Brake pads: ceramic friction material.
- Export packing on the record: 45 x 45 x 45 cm carton, 45 kg gross weight.
- Not stated here: piston diameters, pad compound grades and any performance figure; none of them is published without a document behind it.
The list above names the metals, not a test result. How the car behaves afterwards depends on pad bedding, installation quality and wear, and nothing here turns that into a promise.
The rotor bell – the aluminium centre that carries the disc on the hub – is machined to the vehicle, and the brake hoses are supplied to match the caliper inlet rather than a generic fitting.
Generation and model years follow the public model page for the Lexus IS (XE20), checked on 2026-09-18. That page confirms the generation, the model years and the factory brake layout. It says nothing about brake fitment on a specific car. The rear-axle check follows the 2007 IS250 parts catalogue listing, which shows both rear disc and rear drum variants; a catalogue listing does not tell you which variant a specific car has.
First order, wholesale band and the four terms
Owners and workshops
A single set is the normal first order, and it is worth fitting one axle before committing to more. The record and the wheel data come first; nothing is cut until we have checked them. Owners usually send photos of the caliper and the wheel barrel, while workshops send their own measurements and the pad plan.
Dealers and importers
From 10 sets the order moves into the small wholesale tier, and from 50 sets it runs as a dealer volume batch with colour and packing options. The published bands are 1–9 sets, 10–49 sets and 50–199 sets. Tell us the market, the models you expect to hold and the rotor paths you want; the quotation follows the same vehicle-record discipline as a single set.
MOQ is 1 set. Production runs 3–7 business days after the deposit clears, and delivery takes about 20–35 business days. Manufacturing and quality defects are covered for 5 years; wear, wrong installation and unauthorised modification are not. Freight, tier pricing and the final rotor path come back with the quotation.
Six questions that arrive before the VIN
Is this an OEM Lexus IS250 caliper?
No. This kit is not claimed as an OE caliper, and no OE number is printed on the page. The set is an aftermarket GT6 six-piston kit for IS250 upgrade projects, and the order is matched to the car through the vehicle record.
Can I fit IS350 or IS F brakes instead?
Those are separate factory routes. The IS350 used four-piston calipers with larger discs borrowed from the GS 430, and the IS F used a factory six-piston front setup. Both routes carry their own wheel and knuckle requirements. This kit is a third route, and the same rule applies to all three: the car decides.
What happens to the parking brake on a rear kit?
It is reviewed before the rear pair is quoted, not assumed. Include the parking-brake type on the car and a photo of the rear hub area, and the answer says whether the kit touches that system or sits around it. The same question was raised by an owner on r/Lexus on 2025-10-17; the thread shows the worry, not the answer for any specific car.
Will a six-piston kit fix a weak pedal?
A soft or weak pedal has several possible causes, and a caliper kit is not a repair for all of them. If the current system has a seized caliper, air in the hydraulics or a worn master cylinder, that is found first with the workshop. This page sells the hardware; the diagnosis stays with the person holding the brake pedal. A 2026-01-08 owner thread describes the same complaint, and it is a symptom, not a parts list.
Do I need a bigger master cylinder?
No master cylinder and no booster sit in the box. After installation, the workshop checks pedal travel and bleeding; if travel is longer than expected, the master cylinder and the bleeding sequence are reviewed before anything else is changed.
Is one set enough to test before a wholesale order?
Yes. A single set covers one axle pair, and it is the normal way for a dealer or workshop to check the packaging, the installation and the local demand before a larger order. The wholesale tiers start at 10 sets.
Photos of the parts, then the fitment review
These photos come from the kit library and the workshop set. They show the parts, the colour and rotor options and the packing work; none of them is a fitment record for a specific car.

The product photos show the caliper, rotor and colour options as photographed; the workshop images show a general installation sequence, a packing sheet and a loading scene. Clearance is not proved by a photograph; it comes from the vehicle record and the printed template. Send the model year, VIN, axle, wheel size and photos of the caliper area and wheel barrel. The reply comes back with a rotor path, a bracket choice, the production window and the price.
