The 4G Chassis Record Comes Before the Upgrade

Key takeaways: four points to settle

  • This is a front-axle upgrade for A6 C7 Typ 4G cars in the 2011–2018 window; C6, C8, S6 and RS6 are separate.
  • The supplied box includes 2 calipers, 2 brackets, 2 rotors, 1 pad set, 2 hoses and 2 hubs.
  • Use the wheel-led rotor path below; its figures are planning rows, not a clearance approval.
  • The vehicle, brake package, rotor thickness and measured wheel gap are still open.

TEN Pistons Do Not Confirm C7 Clearance

This Audi A6 C7 brake caliper upgrade uses the 10N family, but its fit starts with the car rather than the piston count.

What the caliper description establishes

We normalise the requested “Akebono 10” to Akebono 10N. Akebono describes its 10-pot opposed-piston family as having five pistons on each side.

That statement explains construction only. It doesn’t supply a C7 upright pattern, a hub drawing or a wheel template.

What stays outside the record

The supplied record does not identify the engine or original brake package. S6, S7 and RS6 references are separate models, even when a listing groups them together.

The rear axle, factory parking-brake work and calipers-only configurations also sit outside this front-axle set.

Build File for a Typ 4G Upgrade

Wikipedia records Typ 4G production from December 2010 through 2018. Your 2011–2018 model-year scope is retained; the exact vehicle still comes from VIN and equipment data.

Three Large Rotor Envelopes

The wheel range is 20–22 inch and the rotor range is 412–440 mm. A planning row is a release requirement, not evidence that a specific wheel clears; the rotor-thickness values remain open as stated in the build file.

WheelRotor rowMeasure on the actual car
20 inch412 mmSpoke path, inner barrel, ET/J, disc thickness and rim gap
21 inch420 mmThe same measurements using the final wheel drawing
22 inch440 mmBarrel contour and caliper-to-spoke clearance

Why 6.5 mm appears

At 6.5 mm, the clearance check is a fitment review rule. A spacer might resolve a tight gap; if the measured gap remains short after that review, this wheel and brake package must not be combined.

Other C7 marketplace listings include 380 mm and 19 inch packages; an S6/S7 thread mentions 400 mm and 356 mm hardware, while a C8 10N page shows a 420 mm rotor. Those are separate products and do not set this SKU’s C7 brackets or thicknesses.

Front Pair, Brackets, Hubs and Lines

The seller specifies one complete front-axle box. The interface column names what still needs an actual C7 record.

Brake rotor2Diameter and thickness for the chosen row
Brake pad set1 brake pad setPad shape and friction material
Braided brake hose2Inlet fitting and routing at full lock

The export reference is 45 x 45 x 45 cm at about 45 kg measured gross weight. Calipers-only is not included in this C7 record.

Material Choices and Evidence Limits

Configured options

  • Caliper bodies: cast aluminium standard; forged aluminium or titanium by request.
  • Brackets and hubs: 6061, 7075 or 8085 aluminium may be requested.
  • Rotor rings: the seller describes forged high-carbon iron; alloy cast iron and carbon-ceramic are alternatives.
  • Pads: ceramic friction material standard; metallic, semi-metallic, carbon-ceramic and carbon-carbon available as options.
  • Finish: caliper, bracket and hub colours, plus a custom logo.

What this file can show

It shows the supplier’s option list only. The current evidence pack contains no C7 drawing, dimensional template, material sheet or test report.

The 8085 designation and the word “forged” for the rotor both remain open. Neither should appear on a customer invoice without a supporting record.

Owner and Workshop Buying Path

Owner or project builder

Send the VIN, model year, engine and brake option codes, current caliper photo, wheel specification and desired rotor row. We’ll return the unresolved interfaces before the build is accepted.

Price is not published on this page. The rotor row, material choice, finish, quantity and destination decide the written quotation.

Tuning shop or reseller

Create a separate C7 file for every customer vehicle. A quotation can be repeated only when the VIN, brake package and wheel data are the same.

A single set can be quoted for a first workshop build before a larger replenishment plan is discussed. Upgrades to finish or pad material follow the fitment review.

  • MOQ: 1 set.
  • Production: the build window is 3–7 business days, measured from receipt of the approved vehicle file and deposit.
  • Delivery: about 20–35 business days.
  • Payment: production begins when the 30% deposit is received; balance and route follow the quotation.
  • Warranty: 5 years against manufacturing or quality defects only, excluding wear, wrong installation and unauthorised changes.

C7 Upgrade Questions Still Open

Does “2011–2018 A6” include every C7 engine and trim?

The generation window does. Fitment does not. Engine, option codes and a front-caliper photo are needed because the original brake package can differ.

Is an S6, S7 or RS6 caliper reference interchangeable with this C7 A6 kit?

No assumption is made here. Those are separate model records. A 10N caliper visible on another C7-era listing does not provide the A6 bracket or hub data.

Will the 20 inch wheel clear the 412 mm rotor row?

The row is planned for a 20 inch wheel, but no general clearance promise follows. The actual spoke path, barrel, ET/J and measured 6.5 mm threshold still apply.

Are the 380 mm and 19 inch keyword suggestions part of this kit?

No. They describe other C7 market listings or searches. This product record uses 412, 420 and 440 mm with 20–22 inch wheels.

Can I reuse the original C7 rotor with these calipers?

That is not the supplied configuration. The kit includes its own rotors and hubs; using an original rotor requires a separate engineering review.

Images, Sources and the Next Quote

Wikipedia’s A6 entry supplies the C7 Typ 4G generation window. Akebono’s high-performance page describes the 10-pot family. Neither proves a C7 bracket, hub, rotor thickness or wheel clearance. This page was reviewed by SteedLuxParts’ product desk on 2026-10-23; independent fitment review pending.
